Awesome light(weight) Light for Kindle3! Jul 14, 2011
By Cynda The first thing I noticed about this light was how little it added to the weight of the Kindle.
!! I love the lightness !!
The size and placement are unobtrusive and I actually prefer holding the Kindle with the light. I can rest my thumb on the track without accidentally turning the page(s). When I do want to turn the page, the left side page turns are a bit awkward, but not impossible to navigate.
At first the 'swing arm' was a bit stiff and I was afraid to push it too far, or too hard. After several uses I became more adept at positioning it, and it seemed a bit more flexible. After a few days, I can get it right where I want it rather quickly. I really like that I can put it above the page, or mid point, or low at the bottom of the page. The light folds back into its home slot easily.
The light coverage of the Simple Light is superb! In total darkness, dim light, and less than ideal lighting. Even in total darkness, the entire page is lit evenly - no light and dark spots. I found I liked using it as supplemental light even in conditions that I would consider well lit because it improved the contrast on the page and reading was easier on the eyes. There is no comparison to 2 previous clip on book lights that were awkward, had poor illumination, and were very hard to keep focused on the page.
This is a powerful little light, I could shine it around a dark room like a flashlight and see the opposite side of the room. Like having an emergency flashlight built into your Kindle! It helped me find the candles during a power outage, and it was very nice to be able to read, instead of just watching the candles flicker. Ever try to read by candlelight?
Even though I use the light about 2 - 3 hours per day (and even more the day the power was out) I have not noticed any difference in battery loss.
It is a great light with excellent coverage, small in size, doesn't require extra batteries, doesn't drain the Kindle battery, is really really light compared to the leather Kindle Cover with built in light, has better light coverage than previous also, and is a great value.

The only non-Amazon Kindle light that needs no batteries. Jul 23, 2011
By John Smith I love reading my Kindle 'naked' (without any covers or sleeves), and I'd been searching high and low for a light that didn't require batteries like the one in the Kindle Lighted covers by Amazon. For the times I wasn't using the Kindle, I wanted a flip-top case only.
Unfortunately, I couldn't spend $60 for a non-battery light that only worked in a cover, much less the Amazon lighted cover that only opens like a book and not a legal pad like I wanted.
This light fits the bill. It works great in a dim or dark room. I don't need additional brightness levels, but they would be appreciated still. Other reviewers have described it in better detail, so I'll just emphasize that this is the only alternative light for the Kindle that doesn't require batteries besides Amazon's lighted cover one, and it's so light it's perfect for those who read 'naked'.
I took off one star for: the incredibly stiff stem - it takes several seconds for me to get it at the right position, almost feels like it will break but it won't (hopefully); the price, which I feel would be perfect at the $15 mark, to better compete against offerings from Verso, M-Edge, and Mighty Bright; and because it cannot fit in as many cases as other compact lights.

Perfect Light for Kindle3!!! Jul 15, 2011
By Penguin W This is a really great light for Kindle! It's very lightweight, adding practically no weight to the already light Kindle. It's easy to install and remove - very simple to use. It's wonderful having it run off of my Kindle's battery life instead of actual batteries. When traveling with my Kindle, it's nice to not have to worry about bringing batteries along with in case the light runs out. You just need the Kindle charger like normal. I didn't notice any significant battery life being used up, I use the light every night for a few hours reading before bed and I didn't have to charge my Kindle at all, and that was with a few weeks of use.
My worry with other lights that require batteries has always been if I will get notice when the light is about to go out and I can no longer read that night if I didn't have extra batteries. With this light, you will never have to worry about that since it's running off of the Kindle battery - the light will never die on you, there will be the warning to charge the Kindle like normal.
It was very convenient for the light to turn on and off in correspondence with the Kindle turning on/off and becoming idle from lack of use. Never have to worry about using up battery life if you suddenly have to stop reading without a chance to turn everything off. There's also the manual switch to turn the light on and off when you don't need it.
The lighting surface was perfect to light up the Kindle reading area, not too much and not too little. Easy to maneuver to get it to that perfect spot that I personally like when reading at night.
Overall, this is a fantastic light - no complaints here. I continue to use it every single night and couldn't ask for more. I would highly recommend this product to anyone that wants a light for their Kindle!

Some defective units, but a great product overall Oct 26, 2011
By Miriam So far I've had to return two of these because the connection was loose, causing the light to flicker. The first defective one was bad right out of the box, and then improved slightly and got worse again. The second defective one was fine for a couple of weeks and then started to flicker, and then stopped turning off when I turned of the Kindle.
However, when this one works, it's the best of three other brands of Kindle lights I've tried. It's secure, slim, and I love that it doesn't require additional batteries (convenient, lightweight, and less waste!). I also love the fact that it turns on and off with the Kindle. I hope they can work out the kinks in the design so that there aren't so many issues with the connection, but overall, I still recommend you give it a try. Amazon offers easy returns, so why not?

Lightweight light very convenient Jul 23, 2011
By Cinder The first thing I noticed was how amazingly lightweight this light is. Feather-light. And the rest is all about convenience. Fits perfectly in my flip-top case, open or closed. Easy to put on, good light even in total darkness, and you can get the angle you desire with just a little work. The facts that it uses the Kindle battery and turns off when the Kindle becomes inactive are real bonuses.
A good deal all around I think.
