The SimpleCase is my second K2 Case. It is a sleek, professional-looking case. The zipper quality is good, and it is very easy to open and close without sticking. I really like the zipper feature because my other case doesn't have that, and I felt this really helps add to the protection (I can just place it in my purse without having to worry something is going to get inside and rub at the screen). It reminds me of a smaller version of my personal folder I bring with me to job interviews.
The inside of the case is a soft, felt-type material, and doesn't leave any traces of lint on the K2's screen. The stitching around the outside of the case looks professionally done with no noticeable faults. The inside stitching is a little less straight in some places, but that doesn't really bother me because no one sees that. The case basically has two pieces of sturdy cardboard (and some flexible material in the middle) with felt lining the inside and synthetic leather lining the outside. The outside of the case does appear to have a bit of padding.
I am pretty confident that I could drop my K2 in the case on the floor and it would be fine. Although, I'm not really willing to test that theory out. The elastic bands keep the K2 securely in place. Plus, I can easily access the charging port at the bottom and the on switch at the top left. The case is actually a bit bigger than the K2 on all sides. So if you were to drop it on a side, the case would take the full hit.
I was pleased to find out that it was very easy to fold back to read the first time.
The pockets are a nice touch and don't seem to add weight to the case.
I do hope to see a selection of colours some time in the future. Overall, I'm very happy with this case.
It is a good quality case for an inexpensive price, and I would recommend this to a friend.

It's very strange that no other reviewer mentioned this, but the inside of the case left black smudges all over the white plastic of the kindle. My kindle was brand-new when I put it into the brand-new case. When I took it out the next time, it had black smudges all over the sides. There is no doubt that something in the material of the case is responsible for this. I very much regretting this product, because it basically ruined the outside of my kindle.

This is the second case I have tried for my new Kindle and I have to say that I really like this one. It holds the Kindle securely and provides great protection for all the parts. I feel confident that I can zip up the case, throw it in my purse, and my Kindle is perfectly protected and that is just what I was looking for.
It is thin and adds very little in the way of bulk or weight. I thought that I would end up talking the reader out of the case when I was using it at home, but have found that the SimpleCase is so unobtrusive that I leave my Kindle in it all the time.
The upper left corner elastic is slightly in the way for reaching the on/off slider, but it easily pushes out of the way so isn't really a big deal. Overall, this is exactly what I was looking for to keep my Kindle protected and in great condition for years to come.

I spent WEEKS picking out the perfect case for my kindle 2, in fact I began shopping even before I knew for sure that I was going to get a kindle 2 for my birthday. I went through the entire list of cases, every case I could fine, opened them all in different tabs, looked at every picture and read every review on every single one of them. I had some ideas of what I wanted when I started out, strength, structure, comfort, protective capacity, storage, light weight ... you name it. I wanted one or two features from every different case I found and eventually realized I was going to have to compromise.
I picked this case because it was black, leather, hard enough to protect my kindle but slim enough to maintain it's light, easy, readability, zippered close so things couldn't slip inside if I put it in a suitcase. Needless to say it has arrived and accomplished ALL of those goals. So it doesn't have a pocket to house my charging cords and book light but I'll get a nice little zipper bag for that stuff. Other than that minor detail it does everything else I wanted it to.
The leather is so smooth and beautiful ... it's that rich, luxurious kind of leather that you can't stop touching and the sued on the inside is even better. The corners hold the kindle 2 in VERY SNUG without any chance of slipping and they're full corners, not just diagonal straps so your kindle 2 sits in them like little cups which removes all slipping and shifting as you move it from hand to hand. The case is sturdy and hard enough that I can put my kindle in a suitcase or on the seat next to me in the car and I know if something gets set on top of it or my dog happens to step on it, the case is going to take all the impact and protect my kindle 2. I especially loved the price! This does not feel like a "bargain" case but look at that price tag!

It ruined my ebook reader! Black/dark Purple stains all over it! BEWARE! Mar 04, 2010

As I was about to write this review, I saw there is another reviewer who has the same problem as I do and I must admit, I am PISSED! We spent hundreds of our hard earned cash on a nice gadget, pay some extra buck for the case just to find out it stains it and there is nothing I can do to take it out. IF I KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE I WOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE! This is a huge Grantwood Technology screw up! Sure the reader still works but the once nice shiny looks now are just a stained mess.
I bought this case right after I bought an iRiver Story (eBook reader with the same dimensions of the Kindle2) and now after a month or so, my once brand new ebook reader is ruined with this ugly as hell black and purple stains in the plastic backside and in the readers front. Pretty much wherever it touches the cases black velvet inside coating, it leaves a black/purple stain in the otherwise white plastic gadget.
I am outraged at Grantwood Technology for screwing up an expensive gadget I worked hard to buy!
I will be posting pictures and maybe a video to show the stains.
