QuickFlipCase for iPhone 3G and new iPhone 3GS, Grantwood Technology's Premium Leather Horizontal Flip Case (Black)

The Quick Flip Case for iPhone 3G and new iPhone 3GS is a soft, premium leather hip case for iPhone 3G (also compatible with the original iPhone). This horizontally designed case features smooth leather exterior with classic contrast stitching and a sturdy permanent belt clip. The belt clip has been updated with a metallic tip for durability and we added two internal rivets so the clip stays attached to the case. It also uses a secure magnetic enclosure, and simple center push-up removal to remove your iPhone. You can still access the headphone jack and sleep/wake button and iPhone speakers are not covered to allow full speaker volume when inside the case.

We designed the case to conform to the iPhone 3G but not overly tight. This allows the iPhone 3G to be removed from the case with just one hand.

If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied we will guarantee a replacement of your purchase or a refund.

We stand by the our products and look forward to you becoming another happy customer.

5Great!  Mar 12, 2010
Great leather case, fit well for iPhone3G, and with some room in spare for a iPhone with shield case. The leather is in good quality, the belt clip construction is especially solid - major plus. Overall, this is much better than those cheaper iPhone case sold at ~$2 range.

4Well-made, well-designed holster, one caveat  Feb 24, 2010
I've been using the Grantwood holster for about two weeks. Obviously, I don't know how long it will last, but I'm very pleased with its design and quality. In particular, the clip is long enough for my belts, and strong enough to withstand mild accidental tugging. (I lost my previous holster - another brand - in a fall during a walk in the woods; maybe I'll find it in the spring.)

The caveat is the iPhone 3G's silent switch. The switch is way too easy to turn to silent. In fact, it switches to silent every time I remove it from the holster, when it's on my right hip. This had become a real problem. I had to check the switch every time I used the phone or re-holstered it. Sometimes I forget to check, and I missed some important calls as a result.

Using the human factors engineering part of my psyche, I decided if the movement of the phone against the holster was turning ON the silent switch, then moving the phone to my LEFT hip should reverse the action. And - so far - this is working.

The best solution would be for Apple to redesign the switch to still be easy to use, but difficult to accidentally use it. But it would seem to be more feasible to change the holster by adding a cutout (or something like that) to clear the switch.

1magnets interfere with compass  Feb 13, 2010
This is a well made case, BUT not suitable for the iPhone 3GS. The magnet(s) in the case interfere with the compass. Hopefully, they do not affect anything else!

5Best Case for iPhone.  Feb 12, 2010
Just to provide some history, this is now my 4th case for my iPhone so I have some experience with the short falls of some of the other caess out there. I honestly have nothing at all bad to say about this case as the design fixes just about every issue I had with the previous 3 cases.

1) It has a magnetic latch instead of velcro which to me is important when you want to use your phone early or late at night you don't have to wake up the whole house with the sound of velcro. The magnet is just the right strength where you aren't struggling to open it but it also wont open on it's own either. The magnets are part of a metal bar which provides some ruggedness to the flip part of the case so it isn't flimsy and so the magnets can't come loose and float around like they did with my last case.

2) The belt clip is top notch. It is well sewn and has a metal end. This was an issue with all 3 previous cases where the end material on the belt clip would rip and expose the metal clip underneath over time.

3) It is made with great materials. It feels more durable than any of my previous cases. How it will hold up after months of use I can not say at this point, but the initial quality is great.

4) With my last 2 cases, the button on the top of the iPhone that allows you to silence incoming calls was blocked. This case you have full access to this button while still providing excellent protection for the iPhone. Also I use an Incase protector cover (http://www.amazon.com/Incase-CL59152-B-Slider-iPhone-Black/dp/B002NGTMVW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1265982526&sr=8-1) on my iPhone and it fits fine in this case with it on the iPhone.

That about sums it up. I can't say enough about how great this case is. It's nice to see a case design that was made by someone who may have actually used the product since so much attention was paid to the details and shortcomings of other cases. My hats off to Grantwood for putting out such a quality product.

5A REAL LEATHER iphone case  Feb 08, 2010
I haven't had this for long, received it 2 weeks ago, but I am very impressed with the quality of this product. This is really leather rather than than "synthetic leather" as most of these cases seem to be these days. It really ticks me off that so many people list their products as being leather when they are "synthetic leather" - which is actually vinyl or tricked out plastic crap.

The clip on the case is only for horizontal us - that's great for me because I wouldn't want to use it in any other position. The clip is fixed and does not rotate, so horizontal is the only position you can use this case in. The clip is very sturdy and is working very well for me in this position,

I liked the case well enough that I purchased another as a backup. I can't think of a better recommendation than that! I am impressed with the quality of this case an find it very convenient to use.

BTW, in addition to this case for my iphone I use one of the silicone protective skins on the phone itself and then keep it in the leather case on my belt or pants. Call me paranoid but I just want to protect my phone and have it available when I need it. I have found this works very well for me...
