 Works Like it Should and the Price is Right! Sep 02, 2010
Bought one of these for the wife to use; she wanted an FM transmitter and charger, and the cheapest one we could find locally was over $60. This one was way less, free shipping, and it works exactly like it should. Great value, shipped on time, works exactly as advertised.

I was excited to try this product due to the good reviews.
However I find the need to share my bad experience as well since it is the reviews that convinced me to get this in the first place.
I can see why this product would be good... if it worked.
My product only worked maybe 20% of the time. It worked fine the first day. Sound quality was pretty good compared to other transmitters I've tried. I was very happy. But starting the second day, it wouldn't work anymore. It wouldn't transmit any signal at all. Then it would work sporadically
Look - The cord length is good. The grip pad is awesome and useful. The sound quality was great. It works with my iphone 4! .. I wanted to like it except it just didn't work.
I am not pronouncing judgment here. Mine could of been just a defective unit. Seems like lot of people like their units so by all means if you want to give it a shot please do! Just know the risks.
Let's see how Grantwood is in regards to their return policy and customer service.
If their make their return policy easy and if their customer service is good, i'll be sure to come back and note it here and bump their rating.
Just want people to be aware.

I ordered this with high hopes as it has some excellent reviews. The product is very lightweight but also feels rather cheap. As soon as the plug started popping out of the lighter socket on it's own, I knew it was going back. I could barely pick up and move my iPod without the plug popping out (it is a short plug) and it's not like I was handing the iPod to someone in the back seat..It just kept popping out. While the cord *could* be long, it doesn't stretch that easily. The sound is 'good enough' at best. It does have a static sound in the background whereas my old one only did when I hadn't turned everything on yet. I got this because my old FM transmitter is just on the fritz and doesn't charge my iPod touch. Everything about this product just feels cheap, but so is the price..
I would only recommend this if it is your very first one and you don't wanna pay a whole lot for something of higher quality (aka better sound).

I recently purchased the Grantwood Technology FM transmitter and charger for iPod/iPhone and I was excited to get it, as it seemed to be a really good deal.
Unfortunately I found it lacking. I tried this product in my car (98 BMW) and in a friends (03 Subaru) with factory stereo systems and I just couldn't get the transmitter to work for music reproduction with my 3rd Gen 32gig iPod Touch with 4.0.2 firmware. For Podcast and Audiobooks it works just fine, no issues to speak of. But if you want to listen to music you might want to look elsewhere. There was just too much distortion in the midrange and high end, even a little in the bass. I listen to a good deal of hard edged music (NIN, Korn) but even average Rock stuff like Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin had an unacceptable amount of distortion. Any guitar or higher frequency sounds would crackle and hiss. I tried everything I could think of to reduce the distortion, from turning off all Bass and Treble on my stereo, to turning the iPod all the way up, to the middle, or most of the way down. I never run any EQ on my iPod as it kills the battery so that was ruled out right away.
I had a similar style transmitter for my Sansa MP3 player and never had distortion problems. That could be due to the Sansa's audio output being inferior to the iPod, as it clearly is, but I can't be sure. I have ordered another FM transmitter from a different maker that looks exactly like the one for my Sansa as I try to determine where the problem lays.
I didn't rate the product lower because I had a great experience with Grantwood Technologies. They called me at home on a Sunday afternoon to expedite my order because there was a problem with my shipping address - we got that figured out and the order arrived just 3 days later. When I contacted Grantwood Technologies to request return authorization they responded within 10 minutes and emailed me a .pdf to print a pre-paid return label. That is some killer Customer Service IMO.
The transmitter itself is pretty nifty. Its somewhat larger than I would've liked, but the buttons have a solid feel. The power adapter doesn't feel cheap either, although it had a tendency to pop out of my BMW's lighter. I have read that European cars seem to have that problem in general. The cord was just the right length and the plug had a locking mechanism that was really solidly put together. The charging seemed to work really well from my limited experience. As you can see I really liked this transmitter, but there is no way I could listen to music with that much distortion.

I have tried several different FM transmitters/car chargers and this one just seems very powerful. I have had it for about a week now and have not at any time had to change the channel on my radio or hold it in my hand or anything! It sends a strong, clear sound through my car stereo. I even drove in the city and past semis and there was no interference. With my other FM transmitter (the iTrip by Griffin) if I go by a car with a stronger signal I lose my ipod and in addition I am always having to change the channel or hold my ipod in my hand if I want to hear my ipod.
I love this new one. My only complaint is that although it works well with the iPhone 4, it does not fit the iPhone 4 when it is in a bumper case. I would have to take it out of the case in order to use the transmitter. As those of you who have this model phone know, it is suggested that this phone stay in its case in order to work properly. I hope the makers of this device can use this feedback in some way. (If you fix this I would probably buy it again, I love this product that much!)
