It's like communism... Dec 13, 2009 ...great in theory, not so great in practice. Did a 13+ mile run today. When I hit the "stop workout" my iPod reset itself. Run was lost. This is the second time in the past two months that I lost a long run. Because the Nike site doesn't let you manually input data (owing to competitions, I think, among runners), I'm unable to track these two runs.
I like the idea of the Sport Kit, but given that tracking runs is the basic purpose of this device and it has only done this with limited success, I can't say I'm totally thrilled. (Additionally, I recently had to spend over an hour on the phone with tech support because my device would not synch to the Nike site.)
Having been a devoted consumer of all things Apple and Nike for 20+ years, I expect this device to work 100% of the time. It hasn't, which makes it extra frustrating because I'm such a big fan of both these companies. Don't know if there are better options on the market - probably not - but I can't recommend this wholeheartedly like I expected to when I first received it off my wish list.
Great Idea Dec 09, 2009 I purchased this for my wife about a month ago. She is a runner and this was perfect for her. Have not owned it long enough to rate the battery life but for the price it would be worth it. I spent $29 which at the time was a decent deal on the nike +.
I dont know how it works, It just DOES! Dec 02, 2009 I have had no problems at all with this product. It was super easy to set up and begin using. I highly recommend it to all runners looking to get a little better handle on their mileage and performance on the road. Also the Nike website is pretty cool.

Very Inacurate Aug 31, 2009 I received this as a gift, and no where in the instructions does it tell you how to use it if you are not waering Nike Shoes. Having said that I used it with non-Nike Shoes and a holder, designed specifically for it. I ran for almost 10 minutes and it said I had only gone .10 miles! I'm not a fast runner, but thats even slower than me.
It also has no GPS, so if you want to calibrate it and don't live near a test track (the high schools near me are not safe and the tracks are not open to the public), you are SOL. I guess I will have to use both my iPod, with this, and my iPhone with the free Run Keeper program at the same time to figure out how far I am really going.
I haven't tried the website yet, but I can't imagine it being very helpful if it can't even get the distance correct.
Amazing Aug 17, 2009 I was really surpised how easily it was to use. I just hooked it up, calibrated it and was able to use it immediately. The only thing was I didn't immediately know about the nikeplus.com linkup because it isn't mentioned at all in the insert that comes with the device. But I soon figured it out and it has become a huge part of my training.
